FBI Reports Huge Decrease In Murders As Firearm, Ammunition And "Large" Magazine Sales Soar
Last week, the FBI issued its preliminary 2009 crime report, showing that the number of murders in the first half of 2009 decreased 10 percent compared to the first half of 2008. If the trend holds for the remainder of 2009, it will be the single greatest one-year decrease in the number of murders since at least 1960, the earliest year for which national data are available through the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Also, the per capita murder rate for 2009 will be 51 percent lower than the all-time high recorded in 1991, and it will be the lowest rate since 1963 - a 46-year low. Final figures for 2009 will be released by the FBI next year.

Chat with mom on solving world problems
Over a week ago our washer broke down. The repair man came and looked at it but had to order parts. We've now received the parts but are waiting for him to return to rebuild our washer.
Mom is away for the week and I caught her on instant messenger this morning...
mom: This is your Mother Dear! (chatting on Sarah's account)
me: Hi mother!
me: I can help solve some of the world's problems
mom: What world problems are you wanting to solve?
me: Here is the solution...
Link click here.
mom: The wringer washer is an idea. But I do like my servant that does everything for me!
me: But this won't brake down on you!
uses less water and can clean better
and best of all ..... no electricity!
mom: Do you want to do the laundry?
me: If we got one of these I wouldn't mind helping
mom: You are so much fun!
me: What's wrong with that?!
it's very practical. I thought through it very well and it will pay off
mom: But it's a lot more work! We would soon have to figure out how to dirty less clothes!
me: What's wrong with that?!
you see, it's a trade off. Money for electricity, extra water, repairing the washer or just a little more of your time
mom: You're so much fun Jon! I love your ideas! :)
me: sure sure....
mom: Yes, yes!
me: You see, if you only spent less money but had to spend more time and effort you may opt for the washing machine. But that time could be spent with family...instead of dad at work paying for the washer which broke again
I'd much rather work fewer hours a day away from home and spend more time at home working with my family.
mom: I appreciate the way you think Jon! :)
me: I try...maybe someday I can have one... put it on my birthday list
mom: My Grandma had one. I remember it being in their kitchen when we would go visit them!
me: :)
mom: Well, bye, bye it has been fun chatting with you! I miss all you! Love and hugs, Mother Dear
me: Bye mother, love you

Christmas Day
After going back and forth several times we finally decided to stay home for Christmas because a few of us were not running at 100%. I had already dropped Reagan off at the Weeses who were planning on having her while we were gone. We decided to let her stay and enjoy one night with the Weeses and their goats. Thank you Weeses! Reagan told me she really enjoyed the sleepover.

Sarai
Making a big breakfast consisting of French toast, eggs, and sausage. Dad made the French toast while I tried to head up the sausage...big mistake. I haven't followed a recipe but a few times. Eggs and pan cakes are ok but I shouldn't be making new recipies. I used table spoons instead of tea spoons for the spices....yeah. Sarah came to the rescue and made it turn out ok.

The Table:
Susanna
Well, it didn't compare to Kelsie's sausage but it was still good. Thank for sharing the recipe. We all enjoyed it!

Calisthenics vs. Weight Lifting
Over the last several years push-ups and chin-ups have been replaced with fancy gyms and state-of-the-art workout machines. Industry is always promoting some new space age contraption guaranteed to give amazing results with no sweat. New “in” exercises require you purchase these new devices.
I prefer something simpler. I’ve done both, weight lifting and calisthenics (a form of exercise consisting of a variety of simple movements––performed without weights or equipment––that are intended to increase body strength and flexibility using the weight of one's own body for resistance.). Here’s some of my reasoning.
I did weight lifting for several years. For a period of a year I lifted 2 hours a day, five days a week. I did bulk up quite a bit and was stronger but it was very impractical.
For starts, weight lifters need to either get a gym pass or buy a weight set. A gym pass usually runs about $50 a month. To get a decent 300lbs weight set you’ll be out $500 (unless you find one at the garage sale of someone else who gave up). If you buy a set, you’ll have to make room to have it set up and use it. This could take over the entire garage or spare bedroom.
To start doing calisthenics all it’ll cost you is some self-motivation and a little sweat. They can be performed just about anywhere, anytime and with no equipment.
Weight lifting isolates muscles and mostly over develops them giving a bulky or “cut” look coveted by most fellas. But even seasoned bench press veterans have trouble doing high-rep pushup or chin-up workouts because their secondary and stabilizer muscles are untrained. Calisthenics are also easier on the joints then weights. There are far less injuries if heavy weights aren’t used.
The push-up is the ultimate barometer of fitness. It tests the whole body, engaging several muscle groups. Besides increasing strength it heightens endurance, balance, range of upper body motion and stability. Weight lifting usually hinders flexibility. Large pushup workouts are great for circulation and overall cardiovascular health. Push-ups are great for strengthening the back, encouraging better posture protecting it from injury and strain. They improve your reaction time and increase blood flow within the torso and arms.
Finally, because push-ups are a high-rep exercise, they help increase blood flow within the torso and arms, which flushes out lactic acid from muscles, lessening any post workout soreness you may have as a result of your weightlifting routine.
Instead of taking time away from family or other duties every day to do your hour workout (or usually closer to two) push-ups along with other calisthenics can be done throughout the day between your various activities wherever you’re at.
If you’re considering a push-up workout program try this simple routine:
Start doing 200 push-ups a day. If your max is under 75 do 8 sets of 25. If your max is over 75 do 4 sets of 50. Work up to 500+ push-ups a day in sets of 50 - 100 for a good workout. These can be spread throughout the day.

Jackalope
For Christmas I was given a Cabelas gift card from my work. How to spend a gift card at Cabelas can be hard with so many things I either need or just want. I shop a lot there. I finally decided on a not widely known item, something that is very unque and highly prized to those who are able to have one.
The wily jackalope is a rare trophy. They're about as scarce as grouse teeth. Just to see one is an incredible thrill. Owning one is utopia. Its existence has been a controversial topic of debate for generations. This jackalope was professionally mounted by a taxidermist in South Dakota, an area known for numerous jackalope sightings over the years.

A big thank you to Mrs. Weese and Kelsie for doing all the decorating and to everyone else who helped with the set up and during the party. Thanks to Ronald for taking the pictures. I could not have done it without you all! Thank You!!
